Hair Idol – Toni&Guy and Essensuals salons only

HAIRIDOL 2007 gives every young Toni&Guy and Essensuals hairdresser the opportunity to showcase their work at a mood-board stage, which is then transformed into a live stage presentation. Each stage will take place in front of an expert panel of judges consisting of key members from The Toni&Guy and essensuals International Artistic Teams & L’Oréal Professionnel Technical Team who will judge each budding team of two on their creativity, technical hairdressing ability and live presentation skills.

As the winner of this prestigious award, you will win once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to travel, work with the International Artistic teams at high profile events and attend the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final.

The Competition

Stage 1: Mood Board
Your team must comprise two hairdressers: 1 technician and 1 stylist. With the guidance of your in salon mentor, your brief is to create a mood board together of any shape or size which reflects your creative thought process and conveys the idea behind your show. The mood board can be made up of magazine cuttings, inspirational pictures, materials and basically anything that illustrates your show plan. The main thing to remember is that your mood board MUST CONVEY THE BASIS OF A LIVE HAIR SHOW WHICH YOU WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT.

Stage 2: Regional Finals Live Presentation
If your board is selected by our leading industry judges, you will be entered into the semi-final round of the competition where you will put on a live 10 minute presentation in front of a panel of judges. The presentation will be based on 4 different looks and each will have a cut and colour.
Technician: (to open the presentation) all 4 colours to be completed but explained during the live presentation. The section pattern of 1 of the 4 must be completed and presented on stage.
Stylist: 3 cuts to be completed before the live presentation. The explanation of the cuts will be given during the stage presentation. 1 cut to be 90% complete before the live presentation and the remaining 10% to be completed on stage.

Stage 3: The Grand Final
The winning team from each regional final, along with 1 ‘wild card’ entry (awarded to the best over all runner up from the regional heats) will be invited to compete in the grand final where you will again perform your show live on stage and present your colouring and technical abilities.
